BIRTV-Beijing 2025
SMPTE was invited to participate in BIRTV-Beijing 2025, China's leading event for the Radio, TV & Film industry. Presented by Tony Ngai, SMPTE’s Asia Pacific governor and also Founder and Director of Society of Motion Imaging Ltd. The presentation included the “We Are One” video campaign, as well as the benefits of SMPTE membership, and examples of work and meetings produced by SMPTE Hong Kong. It was a great opportunity to connect with fellow professionals, explore the latest in media technology, and strengthen SMPTE's presence in the region.
In 2016 five veterans of the motion picture and television industries got together at a casual meeting. After some discussions they deemed it necessary to set up an organization which would be tasked to provide, among other things, training to local young workforce. After consultation with their lawyer, the Society of Motion Imaging (SMI) was established as a company limited by guarantee.
