
Biography of Tony NGAI, Tin Ming
Tony NGAI joined Salon Films (H.K.) Ltd in 1969. He had established a professional fleet of equipment rental network in Asia for 50+ years serving near thousand of features films in Asia. He retired from Salon Films in 2019 but remains in the industry to contribute and support.
He was the section chair of the Hong Kong Section of the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (www.smpte.org) since 2002 through 2014, and has conducted numerous workshops, seminars and trainings. Tony Ngai has been awarded with the “Citation of Outstanding Service” to SMPTE and also honored as SMPTE Fellow and is now SMPTE Life Fellow status.
Tony Ngai is an Associate Member of the American Society of Cinematographers (www.theasc.org).
HKSC (Hong Kong Society of Cinematographer) has honored him “Professional Achievement Award” in March 2018 and also acts as Honorary Advisor (www.hksc.com.hk).
Currently, Tony Ngai is Asia-Pacific Governor of SMPTE.
Tony Ngai has an Bachelor of Science degree from California State University-Northridge, MBA from the University of Hong Kong, and Master of Telecommunication from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology.
